Hare Chane Ki Sabzi is a flavorful Indian dish made from fresh green chickpeas (hare chane). The chickpeas are cooked with a blend of spices, including cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. It is typically prepared with onions, tomatoes, and green chilies for added taste and heat. The dish is nutritious, rich in protein and fiber, and can be served with roti, paratha, or rice. It is a popular choice during winter when fresh green chickpeas are in season.

Steps

1
Done

In a mixer jar, add 1/4 cup fresh coconut, 3-4 cloves of garlic, a few green chilies, a small piece of ginger, a bunch of fresh coriander leaves, and 1/4 cup of fresh chana (from the total 350 gm). Grind them into a smooth paste.

2
Done

In a kadai, heat 2 tbsp oil and add jeera (cumin seeds) and hing (asafoetida). Let them splutter. Add the freshly made paste to the kadai and sauté well.

3
Done

Add salt and basic masalas (turmeric powder, red chili powder, and dhania powder). Add 1/4 cup of water to prevent the paste from sticking at the bottom. Optionally, you can also add garam masala for extra flavor.

4
Done

Add the fresh green chana and some more water. Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes on medium flame until the chana is tender. If you prefer a mushier texture, cook for 10 minutes.

5
Done

While serving, squeeze fresh lime juice and sprinkle chopped fresh coriander on top. Enjoy!
