Parathas are a staple in Indian households, but adding a healthy and cheesy twist to them makes them even more irresistible. Corn Palak Cheese Paratha combines the goodness of spinach, sweet corn, and cheese, making it a wholesome meal for all ages. This recipe not only delivers on taste but also packs a nutritional punch, making it a great choice for breakfast, lunch, or even a lunchbox meal.

Despite being rich in essential nutrients, many people, especially children, are reluctant to eat spinach. The slightly bitter taste and fibrous texture make it less appealing. Additionally, some believe that greens are difficult to digest or time-consuming to prepare. However, incorporating spinach into dishes like parathas, where it blends seamlessly with other flavors, is an excellent way to make it more palatable while retaining all its health benefits.

Nutritional Benefits of Corn Palak Cheese Paratha

Spinach is a powerhouse of iron, folate, and vitamin A, which helps in improving blood circulation, boosting immunity, and maintaining good eyesight. It is also rich in fiber, making it great for digestion. The antioxidants in spinach support heart health and reduce inflammation.

How to Make Corn Palak Cheese Paratha

Start by preparing the dough. In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup of wheat flour and add ½ teaspoon ajwain, 1 teaspoon jeera, salt to taste, and 2 teaspoons oil. Mix well before adding 1 cup of finely chopped spinach. Knead the mixture into a soft dough, cover it, and let it rest for 10 minutes. This helps in better gluten formation and enhances the texture of the paratha.

For the stuffing, take 1 cup of parboiled sweet corn and coarsely crush it in a chopper. Transfer it to a mixing bowl and add finely chopped green chilies (as per taste), 3 finely chopped garlic cloves, finely chopped coriander, salt to taste, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, and red chili powder (as per preference). To enhance the flavor, you can also add other spices of your choice. Finally, mix in 2 shredded cheese cubes, ensuring the stuffing is well combined.

Now, divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thick discs using dry flour to prevent sticking. Place one spoonful of stuffing in the center of each disc and fold the edges over to seal it. Roll it out gently into a paratha. Heat a pan and place the paratha on it, dry roasting it from both sides. Drizzle butter or ghee and cook until golden brown on both sides. Repeat the process for the remaining parathas. Serve hot with curd or pickles for an ultimate flavor experience.
