Malai Ladoo is a rich and creamy Indian sweet made from milk cream, often enjoyed during festive occasions like Janmashtami. The sweet is prepared by cooking milk cream (malai) with sugar, cardamom, and sometimes saffron until it thickens. It’s then shaped into small, round balls and garnished with nuts or dried fruits. These ladoos are indulgent and have a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture. They are a popular treat to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday, adding a touch of sweetness to the festivities.

Steps

1
Done

In a heavy-bottomed pan, add 1 cup paneer and 1 cup milk. Boil on medium flame for 8-10 minutes, stirring continuously.

2
Done

When the mixture thickens, add 1/2 cup milk powder, 1/2 cup condensed milk, and 1/2 tsp cardamom powder. Cook on low to medium flame until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan, stirring constantly.

3
Done

Once the mixture starts separating from the pan, turn off the heat and transfer it to a plate. The mixture should remain lukewarm.

4
Done

Grease your palms with ghee and shape the mixture into small, round ladoos.

5
Done

Roll the ladoos in milk powder or desiccated coconut for coating. Garnish each ladoo with a small piece of pista and a strand of saffron.

6
Done

Store the ladoos at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
