In a mixer jar, add 1/4 cup fresh coconut, 3-4 cloves of garlic, a few green chilies, a small piece of ginger, a bunch of fresh coriander leaves, and 1/4 cup of fresh chana (from the total 350 gm). Grind them into a smooth paste. |

In a kadai, heat 2 tbsp oil and add jeera (cumin seeds) and hing (asafoetida). Let them splutter. Add the freshly made paste to the kadai and sauté well. |

Add salt and basic masalas (turmeric powder, red chili powder, and dhania powder). Add 1/4 cup of water to prevent the paste from sticking at the bottom. Optionally, you can also add garam masala for extra flavor. |
